IEC (Import/Export Code)
About Our Service
In order to export from or import into India, a business must have an Importer Exporter Code (IEC), a vital business identity number. It is a special code that needs to be obtained in order to conduct any import or export activity, unless specifically exempted.
Even while exports of services normally do not need an IEC, there are some exceptions when the service provider is looking to gain advantages under the Foreign Trade Policy. With the implementation of GST, the IEC issued is now identical to the firm's PAN, while the DGFT will continue to issue individual IECs in response to applications. The process for acquiring an IEC is thoroughly described in this page.
The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) issues the ten-digit Import and Export Code, also referred to as the IEC number. Businesses who import into or export from India are required to have it. For the purpose of performing international trade activities, the IEC number acts as an identification code for import and export transactions.
Businesses that conduct import and export operations must have an IEC registration certificate. In order to import goods into India, importers must confirm that the importing entity has both a GST registration and an IE code. The smooth completion of customs procedures depends on these conditions.
