GST Tax Types
There are many GST registration options, such as ordinary registration, registration for sporadic taxpayers, non-resident taxpayers, and registration for eCommerce operators. Regardless of their revenue threshold, casual taxable individuals, non-resident taxable persons, and eCommerce operators are required to register for GST.
Casual Taxable Individuals
A casual taxable person is one who occasionally provides goods or services in a State or Union territory without a fixed place of business, as defined under the GST Act. This group includes people or organisations who run transient companies at trade shows, exhibitions, or seasonal endeavours, making them subject to the GST as casual taxable persons.
Non-resident taxpaying individuals
An individual, company, or not-for-profit organisation that provides goods or services in India but does not have a permanent establishment or residence there is referred to as a non-resident taxable person (NRI) under the GST. Foreign people, foreign companies, or foreign organisations that offer goods or services to India fall under this category. They must abide by all GST laws in India because they are non-resident taxable people.
E-commerce business owners
According to the GST Act, any person or organisation that owns, maintains, or operates a digital or electronic platform for carrying out electronic commerce operations is referred to as a "e-commerce operator." Therefore, regardless of their business turnover, everyone engaged in online sales of goods or services is considered an "e-commerce operator" and is needed to register for GST.
